Flipkart Forms a Partnership With Karbonn To Sell Affordable Smartphones.
India giant e-commerce Flipkart has recently announced that it has formed a partnership with phone manufacturer Karbonn, in order to launch a series of what’s been dubbed as “budget smartphones’ ranging from a measly Rs 2,6999 ($45) to Rs 4,499 ($75). The smartphone are all dual-SIM and run on Android Jelly Bean or KitKat. During the previous week, the company moved into the tablet space with the launching of its very own Rs 9,999 ($166) seven-inch tablet. branded under Digiflip Pro.
There are two 2G phones in the series, the Karbonn Smart A50S and A52+, which both contain a screen size of 3.5 inches, are powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, run on Android Jelly Bean and have a two- megapixel camera. The former has been priced quite cheaply, Rs 2,699, due it coming with a 256MB Ram and a 1100 mAh battery, while the latter, Rs 3,099, contains 512MB of RAM and is powered by a 1300 mAh battery.
Two 3G phones were also revealed as well, the Karbonn Smart A12 and A11. The former has a screen size that totals in 4 inches, while the latter features a much bigger display of 4.3 inches. both are being powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and a 1400 mAh batter, run on Android Kitkat, and comes along with a 512 MB of Ram as well as five-megapixel camera.
The phone have been listed down as “coming soon” on Flipkart, ad its expected that they will become available for purchase during the coming few days. To allure its 18 million registered customers, Flipkart is also making cashing-on-delivery available for these smartphone orders.
Fliprkart has been stepping up its efforts recently to gain an even more entrenched stance within the Indian e-commerce space, as two US giants, Amazon and eBay, begin to encroach on their territories. The company previously stated that it’s expansion into the mobile device space due to its large user base giving it access to data to predict the types of products customers would enjoy on the market, and in turn, help to increase its sales.
